The course examines
the functional area of production and operations management as practiced in the
manufacturing industry. The course includes decision-making, capacity planning,
aggregate planning, forecasting, inventory management, distribution planning,
materials requirements planning, project management and quality control. The
course focuses on managing complex management system and processes to produce
and distribute products and services efficiently and effectively thru the
various TQM frameworks, concept, and quality improvement tools necessary for
implementing the quality culture that characterize world-class organizations of
the 21st century. It will introduce the concepts around the ISO for performance
excellence and explore the key actions necessary for transforming government
and non-governmental organizations into world-class organizations that deliver
ever-improving value to their customers, clients, and constituents. It
emphasizes on the interplay between financial effects of quality operations to
financial performance.
